Google's Chase Cobb said:
"Imagine that you scan a small section of your living room, and then are able to generate a little game world in it."
Yes, the phone can build a visual map of rooms using 3D scanning. The 3D sensors will have more than a quarter million measurements every second. Google believes that advanced computer vision
technologies, coupled with sensors will enable indoor navigation and immersive gaming.

ATAP's technical program leader, Johnny Lee said:
“Project Tango strives to give mobile devices a human-like understanding of space and motion through advanced sensor fusion and computer vision, enabling new and enhanced types of user experiences – including 3D scanning,
indoor navigation and immersive gaming,”
The company plans to allocate those prototype phones to 200, hand-picked developers by mid-March. They will be able to write apps in Java and C/C++ with the help of Unity Game Engines.
